Optical fibres provide, typically, complete enclosure of laser radiation, but if a fibre is disconnected or a fibre break occurs, hazardous levels of laser exposure can occur.

Do not stare with unprotected eyes at the fibre ends or connector faces, and do not use any unapproved collimating device.

Fibre ends must be individually or collectively covered when they are not being used, and prior to connecting high-risk laser equipment, to prevent accidental exposures.
