Below are details of when and where the conference will take place. There is also an optional Christmas dinner at The Cosener's House, Abingdon on the 15 December.

The meeting

You are cordially invited to participate in the 2026 Christmas Meeting of the High Power Laser User Community. This will again take place in Abingdon School, starting at mid-day on Monday 14th December. The meeting aims to bring together both experimental researchers along with those involved in theory and simulation, and, in particular, to provide a venue for PhD students and young post-doctoral researchers to present their work.

Talks

We will strive to accommodate requests for oral presentations as much as possible but priority will be given to PhD students and young researchers. It is likely that there will be three review/tutorial talks by established members of the community.

Changes to the registration process

Due to financial pressures at STFC, our application process has changed slightly.

  • we will ask for title and abstract of contributions, and we ask that that student attendees will make a contribution, such as a poster
  • we will ask if attendee’s institutions can cover travel costs, and you will be asked at registration if coverage is FULL (100%), PARTIAL (at least 50%) or NONE

The CLF will continue to cover the  accommodation costs and  delegates cost for the venue.

Dinner will be provided in Cosener’s House but lunch will be served at Abingdon School. The oral presentations will take place in the Amey Theatre of Abingdon School, and accommodation has been arranged in Cosener’s house and nearby hotels. As usual there will be a student poster prize competition.
