Senior Experimental Scientist, Condensed Matter Physics, Artemis
Dr Yu Zhang joined the Artemis team in Feb 2018. Yu's PhD and early postdoctoral work were carried out in the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, where he studied elementary magnetic excitations, magnons (spin waves), and the influence of spin-orbit coupling on the magnon dispersion on transition metal/metal oxide surfaces. Yu then did several years of postdoctoral work in the Department of Chemistry in UCL, where he developed expertise in time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy and investigated the dynamics of polaronic states in rutile TiO2, a prototype transition metal oxide. His research interests cover both magnetism and photocatalysis in low-dimensional materials of metal/oxide/semiconductor.
