The CLF has been involved in a big step for Laser Mégajoule (LMJ), an inertial confinement fusion (ICF) research facility in Bordeaux, France, who have just conducted their first academic access experiment.
The experiment used micro targets made by Scitech and the CLF to explore plasma turbulence, helping to prove that slower, rather than faster magnetized plasma turbulence results in more a successful approach to ICF. This international research, which was recently published in PRL, involved collaborators from the USA, Japan, S.Korea, France, Germany and the UK, and is another step in paving the way towards ideal clean energy production.
