Use the following guidelines when planning journeys for drivers, especially for users travelling at the end of a long working day:

  • The maximum continuous driving period is 2.5 hours, to be followed by a minimum 15 minute break/stop
  • Within one day, the maximum driving time, including breaks/stops, should not exceed 9 hours
  • A working day that includes business driving should not exceed 12 hours in total (driving time plus all other work).

If you know that you will have to exceed these guidelines, a risk assessment must be submitted in advance.
